Raw data is collected and processed with PortIO and then saved to PARChistory. PARCview’s local OPCHDA Server or the CTCNETHDA remoting server reads data from PARChistory and third-party data sources and serves up the data to the dataPARC server and client applications. Some third-party data can be read directly in the OPCHDA Server, or it can first be imported into PARChistory using the PARChistory Import Server. All server applications are typically run as services in Fire Daemon in Session 0, or Interactive Services. All clients will then connect to the SQL configuration database (named ctc_config by default) and shared Displays folder. The SQL server can either be on the same server as the historian or on a separate one.
