The PARCrollup Server is designed to allow averages to be retrieved faster than when reading data from an OPC HDA server. PARCrollup is an engine that rolls up data into aggregates in the PARCview configuration database. This pre-calculation allows the data to be accessed more quickly than with a standard ad-hoc calculation. The rollup server reads tag data for time periods and grade or product runs as specified by process area and then calculates aggregates. These aggregates can then be accessed by PARCview.
Tags and processes must be configured to utilize the rollup server. A new switch must be added to the UTag that will redirect PARCview to retrieve PARCrollup Server data instead of data from the native source. The Tag Options tool within the dataPARC Excel Add-in can be used to add the switch to the UTag. Options for the PARCrollup Server must be configured through the Process and Process Tags tabs in the PARCview System Configuration tool. The properties of Centerline displays must also be configured before they will use the rolled up averages.
PARCrollup Server adds three views to the configuration database that external applications can use to retrieve the PARCrollup Server’s aggregated data. The views can be used to retrieve run times, grade run sub-runs, and run statistics.
