This information is specific to the latest release of PARCview:
7.2.x
PARCmessage is a built-in error monitoring software. It creates an ongoing log of errors generated from PARCview on the specific computer where PARCmessage is running. PARCmessage displays errors and notifications that occur when running dataPARC programs. PARCmessage is accessed from the Notification Icons in the Windows system tray. The icon appears when PARCmessage has a notification. PARCmessager.exe is located in the PARCView Client older. Typically, the PARCmessage service automatically starts when PARCview launches.
PARCSecurity Permissions
PARCMessage has no PARCSecurity limitations. Anyone who has access to PARCview also has access to PARCMessage.
Configuration
All PARCMessage.exe configuration is managed directly from the PARCMessage.exe application.
Options > Settings: Allows basic configuration of PARCMessage including the size and if and where the logging can be stored.
Log Files
Errors can also be stored in the PARCview install directory both on the server and clients ...\Capstone\PARCView\LogFiles
You can only have one instance of the PARCMessage open per Machine. If you have multiple users logged into the same PC only one user can see the PARCMessage.
This specific error indicates that you have more than one copy of PARCMessage open. This often happens because PARCView auto launches PARCMessage to run in the background. You will want to close the PARCMessage that gives you the error.
“Only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted.“
