PARCEnterprise Manager is a dataPARC client application that allows the monitoring and interaction of local and remote PARCserver applications. The following are features that are supported in the Enterprise Manager:

  • View all Server Applications in a Location configured in a Local PARCview system configuration.
  • Add Applications tied to a remote Location though a DSN.
  • Disable viewing of specific locations, and applications in either remote or local locations.
  • View IP address, Last Heart Beat, Start Time, Last Error Time, Last Error Message, exe Date, Version, and Associated Tags for a specific application.
  • Remote connections to computers running applications. The following three remote connection types are supported:
  • RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol): This is usually available in the accessories folder in the Start bar on Microsoft Operating Systems.
  • VNC (Real VNC): third party remote software. http://www.realvnc.com
  • Remotely Anywhere: third party remote software http://www.remotelyanywhere.com
  • Service status for each application.
  • Ability to Restart, Stop, Start applications for which the user has service access rights on the target machine.
  • Trend Application Specific tags in either an independent window or a panel in the main Enterprise Console Window.


PARCSecurity Permissions

PARCsecurity Console has a permission setting for PARCEnterprise Manager

  • Launch PARCEnterpriseManager – Grants access to the PARCEnterpriseManger application.


Configuration

Ribbon Bar

Home

  • Refresh: Attempt to get data from all services and updates the Service Status.
  • Show Application Tags: Shows the application tag panel.
  • Reload Grid: Clears the grid and reloads all items from the config, forcing the PARCEnterprise Manager to perform a complete service status and heart beat check on all services. New services will also be added to the grid.
  • Show Trend Panel: Shows a trend of application tags beneath the Service grid.
  • Create Trend Window: Opens a blank trend.
  • RDP: Opens an RDP connection to the location of the service.
  • VNC: Opens a VNC connection to the location of the service.
  • Remotely Anywhere: Opens a Remotely Anywhere connection to the location of the service.

Config

  • Configure: Opens the Enterprise Manager Config window.
  • Configure Locations: Opens the Location Config window.
  • Edit Location System Config: Opens PARCView System Configuration for the selected Location.


Enterprise Manager config

  • Show RDP as an Option: Shows the RDP button in the Home Ribbon Bar and the Right-click menu. It also adds RDP options in the Location Config window.
  • Default RDP Checked: Defaults the RDP column as checked Locations Grid when configuring locations in the PARCEnterprise Manager.
  • Show VNC as an Option: Shows the VNC button in the Home Ribbon Bar and the Right-click menu. It also adds VNC options in the Location Config window.
  • Default VNC Checked: Defaults the VNC column as checked Locations Grid when configuring locations in the PARCEnterprise Manager.
  • Real VNC Viewer .EXE File: The full file path to the VNC View .EXE file.
  • Show Remotely Anywhere as an Option: Shows the Remotely Anywhere button in the Home Ribbon Bar and the Right-click menu. It also adds Remotely Anywhere options in the Location Config window.
  • Default Remotely Anywhere Checked: Defaults the Remotely Anywhere column as checked Locations Grid when configuring locations in the PARCEnterprise Manager.
  • Default Port Used for Remotely Anywhere: The default port to use in Locations Grid when configuring Remotely Anywhere connects in the PARCEnterprise Manager.
  • Show Service Status and Allow Start, Stop, and Restart: Allows the Start, Stop, and Restart options to be used in the Right-click menu.
  • Default Locations to Check Services: Whether default location(s) will check services.


Location Config

Home

  • Save Changes: Saves all changes made to the local and remote services.
  • Undo Changes: Resets all changes to the last save.
  • Close: Closes the window without saving.
  • Remote Locations: Lists the locations set up using the Add Locations button in PARCEnterprise Manager.
  • Local Locations: Lists the locations set up in the Locations tab in the PARCView System Configuration.
  • Add Locations: Displays settings to configure a new remote location.
  • Refresh Location Application: Refresh application data for selected location.
  • Set Inactive in Database: Disables the selected service from showing up in PARCEnterprise Manager. The purpose of this button is to remove a specific service that no longer exists. Using an inactive service will cause it to become active again.
  • Delete: Removes the service from the database. If the service is detected by the PARCEnterprise Manager then it will be added to the list of services.
  • Move Location Up One: Moves a Location above one Location the Location Config window.
  • Move Location Down One: Moves a Location below one Location the Location Config window.
  • Move Location to the Top: Moves a Location to the top of the Location Config window.
  • Move Location to the Bottom: Moves a Location to the bottom of the Location Config window.


Location Grid

  • Save Changes: Saves all changes made to the local and remote services.

Log Files

PARCmessage is a built-in error monitoring software. It creates an ongoing log of errors generated from PARCview on the specific computer where PARCmessage is running. PARCEnterprise Manager errors can be found in the PARCmessage console.

Errors can also be stored in the PARCView install directory both on the server and clients ...\Capstone\PARCView\LogFiles\PARCEnterpriseManager.


Required Server Applications

PARCEnterpriseManager.exe is required to use PARCEnterprise Manager. It is in the following directory on any client ...\Capstone\PARCView.

UA Server: All PARCview vr 7 functionality requires a Universal Access (UA) server.

GDS: All PARCview vr 7 functionality requires a Global Discovery Server (GDS).
