Article summary

This information is specific to the latest release of PARCview:

7.2.x

PARCdata is a Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) service that can be used by third-party applications to quickly read tag data from data sources that are configured in PARCview via SQL queries. When used with the PARCdata SQL Server CLR add-in, PARCdata is a preferred alternative to the Capstone ODBC driver for reading OPC HDA data into SQL Server. This is typically utilized for custom reporting applications or for pulling data into third-party applications.

PARCSecurity Permissions

PARCdata is accessed from a SQL interface which is outside of the PARCview applications and the PARCsecurity permissions.

Configuration

PARCdata is configured by running a few configuration scripts against the PARCview database that allow the queries to be ran.

Log Files

PARCdata specific errors will be stored on the server in the PARCdata install path ...\Capstone\PARCData\LogFiles

Required Server Applications

PARCdataServer.exe is the server application that processes the queries from SQL and returns the data.

UA Server: All PARCview version 7 functionality requires a Universal Access (UA) server.

GDS: All PARCview version 7 functionality requires a Global Discovery Server (GDS).
