PARCview Nexus is a web-based implementation of PARCview,

the main client application in Capstone Technologies dataPARC Suite.

00:08 ⟶ 00:17

Built on top of the PARCview framework, Nexus operates as an

independent application that is accessed from a web browser rather than

a desktop application on the server.

00:18 ⟶ 00:21

It is strongly recommended to use Google Chrome to access Nexus.

00:21 ⟶ 00:29

Although other browsers are supported, Chrome's infrastructure and maintenance

practices provide the best support for a wide range of performance factors.

00:30 ⟶ 00:35

Web address used to access Nexus is site-specific and will be provided during installation.

00:35 ⟶ 00:46

After navigating to the Nexus website, users may be required to enter login

credentials through Keycloak, which is the identity and access management

application that conducts user authentication.

00:47 ⟶ 00:50

The login credentials will be the same used to access PARCview.

00:50 ⟶ 00:57

If those credentials are not accepted, check with your administrator to ensure

that proper permissions have been set for your account.

00:57 ⟶ 01:00

The landing page for Nexus is the Nexus Explorer.

01:00 ⟶ 01:06

The Nexus Explorer is the central interface for the application

from which all features can be accessed.

01:06 ⟶ 01:13

The display types supported in Nexus are

trends, graphics, Heatmaps, XY Charts, and Profile Charts.

01:13 ⟶ 01:20

Supported displays, as well as tags and associated data

accessible in Nexus will match the corresponding instance of PARCview.

01:20 ⟶ 01:25

Changes saved to display files in either Nexus or PARCview will apply to both applications.

01:26 ⟶ 01:32

Nexus has features independent from PARCview,  but not all PARCview features

are available in Nexus.

01:32 ⟶ 01:39

A notable difference is that graphics can be opened and interacted with in Nexus,

but must be configured and saved in PARCview.

01:40 ⟶ 01:44

Also, Profile Charts are exclusive to Nexus and are not supported in PARCview.

01:44 ⟶ 01:52

The dataPARC support team can provide the current status of other supported

functions in addition to the main web address for the Nexus Explorer.

01:53 ⟶ 02:00

Every window in the application has a unique URL that can be used for direct

access without navigation through the Nexus Explorer.

02:00 ⟶ 02:04

This includes all saved displays, Tag Browser, and Tag Info.

02:04 ⟶ 02:14

Those URLs can be bookmarked for quick access, used to embed the display in iframes,

customized with supported parameters, and shared with other Nexus users.

02:15 ⟶ 02:21

Visit the other videos in this library for more detailed explorations of core Nexus features.
