This information is specific to the latest release of PARCview:

7.2.x

The CTC .NET Remoting HDA Server Console is an interactive version of the CTC .NET Remoting HDA Server, which can be run either in FireDaemon or in a user’s interactive session. It improves upon the standard .NET HDA Remoting service by offering an interactive GUI that displays client and resource usage information in addition to providing remoting console capability in version 5.x. In version 7.x, the CTC .NET Remoting HDA Server Console is used for some VB6 application functionality.

The CTC .NET Remoting HDA Server Console is located in PARCview’s Program Files folder.

PARCSecurity Permissions

The CTC .NET Remoting HDA Server Console does not have any associated PARCsecurity permissions.

Configuration

Multiple instances of the CTC .NET Remoting HDA Server can be set up using different configuration files. This makes it possible to host .NET Remoting servers on multiple I.P. addresses for hosts with multiple NICS, as well as to host multiple servers using different ports on a single I.P. address. Hosting multiple instances on a single I.P. address allows for pointing PARCview sources or clients to a specific instance of the .NET Remoting Server.

The CTC .NET Remoting HDA Server Console configuration file is located in PARCview’s Program Files folder.

Log Files

PARCmessage is a built-in error monitoring software. It creates an ongoing log of errors generated from PARCview on the specific computer where PARCmessage is running.

Errors can also be stored in the PARCview install directory both on the server and clients ...\Capstone\PARCView\LogFiles

Required Server Applications

CTCNETHDAConsole.exe: The server application will run in FireDaemon to provide clients remoting services.

UA Server: Allows clients, including applications, a connection into PARCview.

GDS (Global Discovery Server): Certificate authority responsible for issuing certificates to the UA server trusted by the PARCview client.
