The asset types tree is a hierarchy of the types of assets in a site’s asset list. The asset tree is also used to create instances of assets of a given type.
The main functionality of the asset types tree is the inheritance of properties by subtypes. In this sense, types further down the tree will have increasingly specific sets of properties.
When considering where to begin creating types, the ability to aggregate values by asset type is also a factor. For example, creating a generic meter type may be too abstract to be valuable, but a flow meter type would allow for analyzing all flow meters at once, which may be more meaningful.
The Asset Types Tree is configured through its right-click menu.
